‘Vinegar Tom’ set for late March and early April

The University of Virginia’s College at Wise Theater Division of Visual and Performing Arts is presenting Caryl Churchill’s “Vinegar Tom” in the Gilliam Center for the Arts in late March and early April.

The play explores gender expectations and women’s roles in healthcare and community through the 17th century witchcraft hysteria. The play shows how easily fear and the unknown can work together to create an atmosphere of reactionary oppression.

Professors Michael Hunt and Michael McNulty co-direct the play. Harmony Tripp, Caitlin Stewart, Kim Mays, Cathleen Bell, Talia Elliot, Emily Tucker, Olivia Taylor, Vince Nolasco, Bernard Manatu and Josh Worrell are members of the cast.

Admission is $5 and tickets are available at the theater beginning 30 minutes before the play. Reservations are not accepted. UVa-Wise students, faculty and staff are admitted free.
