2010 UVa-Wise Technology Symposium set for Oct. 7
“Technology from 10,000 Feet” is the theme for this year’s technology symposium, set for Oct. 7 at The University of Virginia’s College at Wise.
The 2010 UVa-Wise Technology Symposium will focus on communicating a "non-techie" view of technology and how it affects the bottom line for businesses and nonprofit organizations.
The cost of the symposium is $35, which includes lunch. The symposium takes place on the fifth floor of the C. Bascom Slemp Student Center from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m.
Presenters will discuss topics such as return on investment, purchasing standards and practices, research and adoption of new technology and other topics from a non-technical viewpoint.
This symposium will help the non-technical business leader to better understand technology and how it relates to overall operations and the best use of the technology tools by employees. Technical staff and management all benefit by getting a better perspective of operational costs, cash flow concepts and return on technological investment within their organization.
The key speaker this year is Dr. Troy Sybert, chief medical information officer for Wellmont Health Systems. Sybert will address the points crucial for organizational leaders to know about technology and how it affects their operation and customers.
