The Appalachian Warfare Program at The University of Virginia’s College at Wise is sponsoring a day trip to Camp Wildcat, the Battle of Barbourville and Cumberland Ford on Nov. 17, 2012.

The visit to the Civil War’s “Hidden Jewels” is sponsored by the generous support of the Slemp Foundation.

Because of the terrain the group will face, would-be travelers should be ready for moderate to strenuous walking. The full program has yet to be decided but the cost will be less than $100 per person and lunch, transportation, and tour will be provided.

Organizers of the trip will announce convenient pick up locations along the route from Wise to Cumberland Gap.
