Appalachian Writers Project offers scholarships
Thanks to a generous grant from the Slemp Foundation and partnership with Humanities Tennessee, the Appalachian Writing Project will offer tuition scholarships in the amount of $450 for young writers who demonstrate need and want to attend the 2013 Appalachian Young Writer's Workshop.
Southwest Virginia teens grades 10-12 (and new graduates) may be selected to live and write at a residential camp at Lincoln Memorial University, where they will work with notable Appalachian authors. The deadline for applying is May 17, 2013.
The AWP will also offer local writing camps this summer for elementary and middle schoolers. Dates will be announced soon.
