Award-winning author Robert Morgan to headline 20th Coffee Night
Organizers of the 20th Coffee Night at The University of Virginia’s College at Wise invite artists, performers and writers to participate in the community reading event at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 6 in the Chapel of All Faiths.
Writer and poet Robert Morgan will present as part of the Colgate-Darden Lecture Series at UVa-Wise. The Kappa Alpha Professor of English at Cornell University, Morgan is an award-winning author whose best-selling novel “Gap Creek” was the Appalachian Writers Association’s Book of the Year for 2000 and a selection of the Oprah Book Club. His latest book poetry will be published by Penguin in 2011.
Copies of Morgan’s books are available at the UVa-Wise Bookstore. Morgan will sign copies of his works at Coffee Night.
The spring 2010 issue of the Jimson Weed literary journal will premiere at Coffee Night, a reading/performing event dedicated to the poetry and prose of campus and the community’s creative writers. All contributors to the new edition of the Jimson Weed are invited to present.
The College’s Department of Language and Literature, Department of Communication Studies and the Jimson Weed sponsor Coffee Night.
