Nash to discuss the Reconstruction Era
Steven Nash, a history professor
at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tenn., will lecture at
UVa-Wise on Thursday, Sept. 20.
Nash, one of the brightest
young scholars of the Appalachian Civil War, will speak in the Leonard
Sandridge Science Center’s atrium at 6 p.m.
His lecture, “Fear and Loathing in Western North Carolina: Emancipation in the Carolina Highlands,” will
introduce the audience to the work that has gone into his many articles and
forthcoming book.
The program is part of the
Appalachian Warfare Lecture Series that has been made possible through the
generosity of the Slemp Foundation.
