Nash to discuss the Reconstruction Era

Steven Nash, a history professor at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tenn., will lecture at UVa-Wise on Thursday, Sept. 20.

Nash, one of the brightest young scholars of the Appalachian Civil War, will speak in the Leonard Sandridge Science Center’s atrium at 6 p.m.  His lecture, “Fear and Loathing in Western North Carolina:  Emancipation in the Carolina Highlands,” will introduce the audience to the work that has gone into his many articles and forthcoming book.

The program is part of the Appalachian Warfare Lecture Series that has been made possible through the generosity of the Slemp Foundation.
