Resident advisor wins ‘Outstanding Programmer of the Year'

Leah Arthur, a resident advisor at The University of Virginia’s College at Wise, was named the Outstanding Programmer of the Year recently at the annual Virginia Association of College and University Housing Officers’ Resident Advisor Conference at Shenandoah University.

More than 300 RAs from 27 colleges and universities across Virginia attended the conference, including eight members of the UVa-Wise Office of Housing and Residence Life.

The award is one of several that Arthur, a junior, has received while at UVa-Wise. She has been named the College’s Emerging Leader of the Year, the Office of Housing and Residence Life’s Programmer of the Year and the Student of the Year by the Virginia Association of College and University Residence Halls.

Two other resident advisors from UVa-Wise were nominated for VACUHO awards. Senior Lauren Scott was nominated for the Outstanding Job Performance award and senior Meagan Boyd was nominated for the Outstanding New RA award.

Brian Root, assistant director of housing and residence life, Adam Hubbard, resident director, and resident advisors Chiz Ononiwu, Robert Davis, Danielle Woiteshek, Allen Lee, Lauren Scott, and Naana Denning represented UVa-Wise at the conference.
