Senator Puckett to speak on Founder’s Day at UVa-Wise April 11

State Senator Phillip P. Puckett will deliver the keynote address on Founder’s Day at The University of Virginia’s College at Wise on Monday, April 11.

 
The Founder’s Day ceremony begins at 1 p.m. in the Fred B. Greear Gymnasium. The public is invited to join UVa-Wise as it celebrates University of Virginia founder Thomas Jefferson’s 268th birthday.

The Honorable Phillip P. Puckett ‘67 was elected to represent the 38th Senatorial District in the Virginia Senate in 1999. Puckett serves on the Agricultural, Conservation and Natural Resources, Commerce and Labor, Privileges and Elections, Transportation and Rules committees in the Virginia Senate.
 
The Russell County native is a member of the Virginia Coal and Energy, Tobacco Indemnification and Community Revitalization, Virginia Unemployment Compensation, Southwest Virginia Cultural Heritage and the Appalachian Region Interstate Compact legislative commissions. Puckett serves on the Southwest Virginia Health Facilities Authority Board, Board of Trustees of the Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center, Board of Trustees of the Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center, Tourist Train Development Authority, Governor’s Motorcycle Advisory Council and the Volunteer Firefighters’ & Rescue Squad Workers’ Service Award Fund Board.
