Johnny Wills, a terrestrial wildlife biologist with the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries, will give a presentation entitled “Black Bear Ecology and Management on the campus of The University of Virginia’s College at Wise.

The presentation, which will take place on May 2, 2012 at 1 p.m. in the Sandridge Science Center, Room 217, is open to the public and available for cultural activity credit for UVa-Wise students.

Wills has been employed by the agency since 2006, and his work covers six counties in southwestern Virginia.  Prior to 2006, he worked as a regional game specialist with the Arizona Game and Fish Department and as a field technician on several research projects around the country.

Wills received a Bachelor of Science in Forest Resources in 1996 from the University of Georgia and a Master of Science in Fisheries and Wildlife from Virginia Tech in 2008.  He has worked in Georgia, California, Montana, Arizona, Virginia and Florida with a variety of wildlife species including black bears, elk, bighorn sheep, white tailed deer and spotted owls.
