Telehealth nursing symposium set for March 31 at UVa-Wise

The University of Virginia’s College at Wise Department of Nursing and the Healthy Appalachia Institute will hold a rural telehealth symposium on March 31 on the UVa-Wise campus.

The “Symposium to Advance Rural Telehealth Nursing,” also sponsored by Verizon and the Appalachian Prosperity Project, will feature a variety of sessions designed to explore the nurse’s role in telemedicine and how the technology is being used successfully in the region.

The symposium has been submitted to the Virginia Nurses Association for approval to award contact hours. The Virginia Nurses Association is accredited as an approver of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

Attendance is free and space is limited. Check in and refreshments begin at 7:15 a.m. in the C. Bascom Slemp Student Center lobby. The symposium begins at 8 a.m. and ends at 5 p.m.

Refreshments and lunch are provided. To register and for additional information, including directions and a campus map, visit www.uvawise.edu/nursing. The last date to register is March 24, 2012.
