UVa-Wise to host Lorax event to encourage reading
Spark the inquisitive mind of a child while promoting reading initiatives by spending an afternoon with one of Dr. Seuss’ creations, The Lorax, at The University of Virginia’s College at Wise.
The Lorax will host kids up to 12 years of age for an afternoon of games, activities and crafts on Saturday, Sept. 22, from noon to 3:30 p.m. Participants may come in costume or dressed as they are.
The event takes place in the Betty Gilliam Sculpture Garden. Admission is free, however an adult must accompany children. Tickets for select activities and games can be purchased at the entrance.
For parents, a silent auction will take place for many beautiful theme baskets full of goodies.
In the event of rain, the event will move to Greear Gymnasium.
The UVa-Wise Student Government Association, Student Virginia Education Association and Student Activities are presenting the event.
