The University of Virginia’s College at Wise is celebrating its Alumni Homecoming 2011 on Sept. 22-24 with a variety of activities, including the first Homecoming football game under the lights at Carl Smith Stadium.

“Cavs Shine at Night” is the theme of homecoming this year. Hundreds of alumni from Virginia and beyond return to the campus each year to participate in Homecoming activities. The community is invited to the festivities as well.

The festivities begin on Sept. 22 with the opening of the Alumni Art Show in the Gilliam Center for the Arts at 9:30 a.m. To submit works of art, e-mail Suzanne Adams-Ramsey at sah4c@uvawise.edu.

The public is invited to a community picnic and to “Meet the Cavs” at 5 p.m. at the Lawn by the Lake. Guests will have the opportunity to meet the Highland Cavalier football team and enjoy campus group competitions for the Silver Saber Spirit Award.

Red & Gray Day is set for Sept. 23 and the Class of ’61 Reunion at 11:30 a.m. in the C. Bascom Slemp Student Center. UVa-Wise has had a strong Greek presence on campus throughout its history, and those involved in fraternities and sororities over the years are invited to return for a Greek Reunion at 6 p.m. in the Convocation Center.
