Chancellor Henry delivers State of the College address at Convocation 2013

 

The University of Virginia’s College at Wise is on a clear path toward greater vitality and distinction, and is fortunate that the region it serves is eager to keep the College moving forward in the spirit of mutual respect, integrity, stewardship and excellence, Chancellor Donna P. Henry said in her first State of the College address.

Class of 2013 nursing grads achieve 100 percent board pass rate

 

The University of Virginia’s College at Wise nursing graduates from the Class of 2013 accomplished something special this summer as all 17 passed their board exams on the first try.

UVa-Wise launches new athletic website

In conjunction with Sidearm Sports, the UVa-Wise Sports Information Department has just completed a redesign of the school's official athletic website, www.uvawisecavs.com.

The website now features new graphics of former and current-student athletes along with a more user friendly interface.  The site is fully integrated with both Twitter and Facebook allowing fans to interact with other Cavalier fans on social media sites about stories, rosters and results.

Professor Wally Smith to appear on 'With Good Reason'

 

Wally Smith, a biologist and professor with The University of Virginia’s College at Wise, will appear on “With Good Reason,” a radio production of the Virginia Foundation for the Humanities, during the week of July 13 through July 19.

Prior Center earns LEED Silver certification

 

The David J. Prior Convocation Center at The University of Virginia’s College at Wise has been awarded LEED Silver certification by the United States Green Building Council.

The Prior Center is the second LEED certified building on the UVa-Wise campus. The Leonard Sandridge Science Center earned LEED Platinum certification.

Dennehy named first women's lacrosse coach

Meghan Dennehy has been chosen as the first women's lacrosse coach for The University of Virginia's College at Wise.

Dennehy spent the last six years as a head coach for Queens University in Charlotte, N.C. where she led the team to the conference finals while producing four IWLCA All-America selections during her tenure. As program director, she supported academic excellence with a team that maintaining a 3.0 grade average each season.

UVa-Wise grad tapped Virginia ABC special agent for Southwest Virginia region

Aaron Cathell, a 2006 graduate of UVa-Wise, has been selected as a Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) special agent assigned to the Roanoke regional office, which covers 28 counties and the cities of Bedford, Buena Vista, Covington, Lexington, Martinsville, Roanoke, Salem, Bristol, Galax, Norton and Radford. Cathell will be based in Wise County with a territory that also includes Dickenson County and the City of Norton.

Spring Dean's List at UVa-Wise

 

The University of Virginia’s College at Wise has announced its spring 2013 Dean’s List.

The 394 students named to the Dean’s List earned a grade point average of 3.50 or higher on a 4.00 scale with no grades below a “C” and were enrolled in at least 12 credit hours.
