A scholarship has been established at The University of Virginia's College at Wise in memory of Laura Danielle Wampler, a graduate of Wise County Christian School who passed away in 2006 at the age of 17.

Ron Eller, a leading authority on Appalachian history, will help The University of Virginia’s College at Wise welcome its new Center for Appalachian Studies to the campus and the region on Tuesday, April 8.
Eller, the former director of the University of Kentucky’s Appalachian Center, will speak at 7 p.m. in the Dogwood Room at the Slemp Student Center. The title of his lecture is “The Value of Place in a Modern World.”

Civil War historian Anne Marshall will speak at The University of Virginia’s College at Wise on Thursday, April 3 at 7 p.m. in the Slemp Student Center. The event, which takes place in the Rhododendron Room, is free and open to the public.
Five students at The University of Virginia’s College at Wise were honored with the Tice Total Achievement Award during the annual Scholarship Appreciation Luncheon on March 22.
Destiny Baker, Lyndra Frimpong, Dakota Hill, Erin Lee and Elizabeth Sandoz were each presented with a certificate of recognition and a $1,000 award.
