UVa-Wise senior Phillip Blevins has been named a Virginia Governor’s
Fellow, which means he will spend the summer in Richmond working in the public
safety office for Gov. Bob McDonnell.
Residence students at UVa-Wise will have access to wireless
Internet service when the fall semester begins this August.
According to Angela Lemke, housing director, each residence
hall will offer wireless once the campus completes the estimated $200,000 project.
However, the townhouses and the theme houses will continue with independent
service provided by Comcast.
The editor-in-chief of UVa-Wise’s student newspaper, The Highland Cavalier, was awarded first place for breaking news reporting in a multi-state contest Saturday for a 2012 news story he wrote about the sudden death of the college’s seventh chancellor.
