The “You’ll Never Work in Theater Again” players, a new local community theater troupe, will be performing The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, based on the award winning book by Barbara Robinson. Performances will be held at the Gilliam Center for the Arts on the campus of UVa-Wise Wednesday, Dec. 4 and Friday and Saturday, Dec. 6-7.
Many people will give and receive special gifts this holiday season, but Destiny Baker, a sophomore at The University of Virginia’s College at Wise, gave a Tennessee resident a second change at life by donating a kidney.
Maddison Couch, a junior at The University of Virginia’s College at Wise, spent last summer researching thyroid disorders in the Central Appalachia after both her grandmother and mother were diagnosed with thyroid-related syndromes.

Fans attending Saturday's game will not only see the first Mountain East Conference game in school history, they will also receive a free t-shirt and "Cavalier Cookies." A tradition that started this fall with the first MEC home contest in each sport will continue throughout the academic year as the athletic department celebrates the inaugural MEC season.
Additionally, any time the Cavaliers score 90 or more points in a home game this season, everyone in attendance will receive a free biscuit from Uncle Freds Gas Grub 'N Suds the following morning.

The UVa-Wise Handbell Choir, Guitar Ensemble, Bluegrass Band, and Percussion Ensemble will present a concert at 7:30 p.m. Tue., Nov. 19, in Cantrell Banquet Hall.
The concert is free and open to the public. This is a cultural activity credit event.
Students from nine regional high schools participated in Avant-Garde Day at the University of Virginia’s College at Wise. Avant-Garde Day is an annual event that promotes the arts and their importance in culture.
The 177 students attending chose from hands-on sessions in art, music and theater.
A chamber music concert featuring the UVa-Wise String Ensemble will be held on Thursday, Nov. 21 at 7:30 p.m. in the Chapel of All Faiths. The event is free and open to the public.
