The Provost and Senior Vice Chancellor is the chief academic officer of the College. He is responsible for recruiting, hiring and evaluating faculty and for the promotion and tenure process. The Provost provides leadership, ensures academic accountability, administers program budgets and facilitates the work of faculty, staff and students.
The Provost has oversight of ten academic departments, and the offices of the Academic Dean, Registrar, Institutional Research, Abingdon Program, the Center for Teaching Excellence and the Honor Court. He serves on the Senior Staff and the Chancellor's Cabinet, and chairs the Provost's Council and the Council of Chairs.
Externally, the Provost represents the College at the State Council of Higher Education, the Instructional Programs Advisory Committee, the American Association of State Colleges and Universities, and other educational entities.
