Spring Trip: Asheville, NC

On Saturday, March 31, we will depart for an overnight trip to Asheville, NC.  Our primary destination is the Biltmore Estate, America’s largest privately-owned home.  Built in the 1890s by George Vanderbilt, the chateau’s 250 rooms include “original art from masters such as Renoir, magnificent 16th-century tapestries, Napoleon's chess set, a library with 10,000 volumes, a Banquet Hall with a 70-foot ceiling, 65 fireplaces, an indoor pool, bowling alley, and priceless antiques.”  Before returning home on Sunday, we will also spend some time exploring the rich cultural heritage and unusual shopping destinations of Asheville itself.

Kingsport Symphony of the Mountains

Join us on Saturday, May 5 for a day trip to Kingsport for the world premiere of (Tennessee native) Mark Harrell’s “Concerto for Euphonium.”  Prior to the concert, we will partake of the symphony-goer’s traditional dinner at Bojangles.  What better way to take a break from studying for exams?
