Honors Program : News
Join us on Thursday, August 29 as we gather at the Adrian home to welcome the new program members. We’ll have burgers, corn pudding, deviled eggs, baked beans, homemade bread, and more! We’ll also play lawn games (e.g. cornhole, frisbee), probably roast marshmallows, and do various other picnicky things. Transportation to and from campus will be provided.
On Saturday, September 14th, we will go canoeing on the nearby Clinch River. It will be a great opportunity to immerse yourself in the natural beauty of the region and also get to know your fellow Honors students better. We will depart Wise around 9:00 a.m. and drive down to Natural Tunnel, where our professional guides, canoes, and transport to and from the river await. We’ll be on the river ~2-3 hours. No previous canoeing experience is necessary.
Fall Trip: Wilmington, NC
Located on the scenic NC coast, Wilmington is a vibrant city with a range of historic, artistic, and cultural sites. During our 4-night stay, we’ll have the chance to visit an aquarium, explore a Civil War fort, eat at local restaurants, stroll along the downtown river walk, go aboard a World War II battleship, investigate local museums, and hang out at the beach. We’ll depart on the day we get out for Fall Break—Oct. 4—and return on Tuesday, Oct. 8.
