We’re glad you’re considering transferring to UVa-Wise. Please submit a completed application, a $25 nonrefundable application fee, and an official transcript from any college you’ve attended, even for one course. If you have attempted fewer than 30 transferable hours of course work, you’ll also need to meet freshman requirements for admission and submit official high school transcripts as well as SAT or ACT scores. (We waive the SAT and ACT requirement for applicants who are 25 years of age or older.)
Complete the transfer application process at least 30 days prior to your anticipated date of enrollment to allow sufficient time for evaluation.

Transfer Student Criteria
To transfer to UVa-Wise, you must have an overall grade point average of 2.2. Applicants who have less than a 2.2 grade point average but at least a 2.0 will be reviewed by the Admissions Committee, and if admitted, may be subject to provisional status. Students with less than a 2.0 normally are not admitted to the college.
You must be in good standing with, and eligible to return to, the college or university you last attended and at which you were enrolled full-time in a degree program.
You must transfer from an accredited institution.
Evaluation of Transfer Credits
Once you are admitted, we will conduct an evaluation of all the courses you completed at previous colleges. Only courses equivalent to University of Virginia or UVa-Wise courses are eligible for transfer. We will award transfer credit for grades of C- or better (or CR for courses designated credit/no credit). Students transferring from the Virginia Community College System or Richard Bland College should see the section below. A maximum of 62 semester hours earned from a two-year college may count towards graduation at UVa-Wise.
