"The Best Christmas Pageant Ever" is a hilarious comedy that will be fun for the entire family. The Youll Never Work in Theater Again players, a new local community theater troupe, will be performing The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, based on the award winning book by Barbara Robinson. Performances will be held at the Gilliam Center for the Arts on the campus of UVa-Wise Wednesday, Dec. 4 and Friday and Saturday, Dec. 6-7. Just in time for the holidays comes a wonderful story about the beauty of the season and the true meaning of Christmas...Wrong! When Grace and Bob Bradley, two well-intentioned parents find themselves having to direct the church play at the last minute, they make the terrible mistake of casting the Herdmans; probably the most inventively awful family in history! Chaos and hilarity results as the cast and crew collide with the Christmas story head on! All performances are at 7 p.m. each night with a special matinee performance on Saturday, Dec. 7 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $10 general admission and $5 for students and senior citizens. Tickets may be purchased at the door, or reserved by calling the special Christmas Pageant Reservations Hotline at 276-328-2370. Unlike typical productions of The Best Christmas Pageant Ever which feature a cast of children, this production features mostly adults, adding to the hilarity of this family focused heart warming story. The production is directed by Kim Mays, whose professional acting and directing credits include working with such renowned organizations as the Barter Theater of Abingdon, Va., Kentucky Center for the Arts Stage One professional theater for young audiences of Louisville, Ky., The Blowing Rock Stage Company in Blowing Rock, N.C, and the highly acclaimed Roadside Theater of Whitesburg, Ky. For more information on this production, please call the reservations hotline at 276-328-2370 or 276-328-0256.
