Alumni Sponsored Activities

Student-Alumni Picnic - A popular event among students, faculty, staff, and Alumni Board members is the Student-Alumni Picnic. Members of the Alumni Board volunteer to grill hamburgers and hotdogs for the entire College community, serving around 900 students, alumni, faculty and staff. This event will be held April 23 at 11 a.m. in the Gilliam Sculpture Garden.

13th Annual Community Spring Swing Golf Tournament- Be a part of the fun and support the Alumni Association and the Athletics Department for the Community Spring Swing at Lonesome Pine Country Club on April 25, 2008. Proceeds benefit our students through events and scholarships.

22nd Annual Cavalier Alumni $elebration - The largest fund-raising event that the Alumni Association hosts each year is the Cavalier Alumni $elebration. Proceeds are earmarked for the operating expenses of the Alumni Association, which include Alumni-Homecoming, tailgate parties and receptions, as well as other needs that arise throughout the year. This event will be held at Lonesome Pine Country Club on May 10, 2008. Contact the Office of Alumni Relations at alumni@uvawise.edu.

Alumni Receptions & Awards Ceremonies- On May 16, 2008, the eve of Commencement, Seniors and other outstanding students will be invited to receptions across campus and be given their awards in their prospective Major. The Alumni Association co-sponsors this activity with the Commencement Committee.

Regional Alumni Meetings - In the past couple of years, the College has returned to its commitment of visiting alumni throughout the states of Virginia, Tennessee and North Carolina. The purpose of these meetings is to bring together alumni in specific regions and update them on the happenings at the campus. In addition, it's a great way for alumni to get to know fellow alums living in their area. If you have thoughts on an activity in your area, please contact the Office of Alumni Relations!

Alumni-Homecoming Weekend - A

weekend dedicated to the graduates of The University of Virginia's College at Wise (formerly known as Clinch Valley College of the University of Virginia). This activity is a joint project of the Alumni Association and the Student Government Association. Activities include the Alumni Picnic, class reunions, football game, and Homecoming Dance.

This event is set for September 25-27, 2008.

Super Raffle 2008 - The Alumni Association and Highland Cavalier Club will once again host a 50 - 50 drawing on Saturday, November 1, 2008, during the football game against Union. Tickets are $100 each. Half of the proceeds will be given away in cash prizes with the top prize being $10,000! Call the Office of Alumni Relations for ticket information or to reserve one for you.
