U.Va. business professor to speak at Southwest Virginia Technology Development Center May 6

Ed Hess, professor of business administration and the Batten Executive-in-Residence at the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business, will discuss entrepreneurship at the Southwest Virginia Technology Development Center on May 6.

Co-author of “So You Want to Start a Business?,” Hess will discuss ways to start and grow a business in tough economic times. The event, sponsored by the University of Virginia, The University of Virginia’s College at Wise and the Virginia Small Business Development Centers, begins at 6 p.m. at the SVTDC, located at 141 Highland Drive in Lebanon. UVa-Wise operates the Center.

Prior to joining the Darden School of Business, Hess spent more than 30 years in the business world as a lawyer, investment banker ad strategy consultant. He has authored more than 40 articles and six books on business growth, values-based leadership, entrepreneurship and family businesses. He has been featured on Fox Business, CNBC, Business Week.com, Fortune and Financial Times.
