UVa-Wise to hold second annual technology symposium Oct. 22
Re-envisioning business through the use of technology and technology partnerships is the theme of this year’s technology symposium at The University of Virginia’s College at Wise.
The symposium is set for Oct. 22 beginning at 8:30 a.m. on the fifth floor of the C. Bascom Slemp Student Center.
Keynote speakers include Karen Jackson, Virginia’s deputy secretary for information technology, and Glen “Skip” Skinner, executive director for the LENOWISCO Planning District Commission. Both speakers will focus on the original vision for the Southwest Virginia broadband backbone, outlining where the project is today and the business opportunities it offers for the future. Regional government, business and educational leaders are encouraged to take part in the discussion about the future of the region’s economy, and to share their thoughts on the future.
Afternoon session topics range from entrepreneurism in technology to an overview of cloud computing. More information on the symposium and registration is available online at www.uvawise.edu/symposium. The $25 registration fee includes a professional networking luncheon. The registration deadline is Oct. 16.
