UVa-Wise welcomes alumni to attend Homecoming Oct. 1-3

Community Picnic

A tour of the new Center for the Arts, reunions, an alumni art show and football are among the events featured as The University of Virginia’s College at Wise celebrates Alumni Homecoming 2009 on Oct. 1-3.

“Living the Dream” is the homecoming theme this year as UVa-Wise celebrates the opening of the Center for the Arts with a special wine and cheese reception and tour, open to all alumni and visitors. An alumni art show featuring work from UVa-Wise graduates is the first exhibit slated for the new art gallery.

Hundreds of alumni from Virginia and beyond return to the campus each year to participate in Homecoming activities. The community is invited to the festivities as well.

Game Day Public Parking

The construction of the new Convocation Center adjacent to the stadium has necessitated a change in parking at home football games this year. Game day public parking has been relocated. Parking near Carl Smith Stadium (at the practice fields and Vanover Street) will be on a first-come, first-served basis. In the case of inclement weather, parking in these areas will be limited.

ADA parking and parking for “Red and Gray” permit holders will remain at the stadium. Only those prominently displaying their ADA (handicapped/disabled) tags or license plates or those displaying their Red and Gray parking permits will be admitted to park at the stadium.

All other parking will be relocated to the main campus. Watch for changing traffic patterns, signs and detours. Shuttle service will be provided to and from the stadium to the Greear Gymnasium, softball and commuter parking lots from 12:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m.

For more information about game day public parking, visit the College’s Web site at www.uvawise.edu or contact the Office of College Relations at 276-328-0130.
