UVa-Wise now offering streaming video of televised programming
The Highland Cavalier NewMedia operation at The University of Virginia’s College at Wise recently launched a new Web site featuring live streaming video available to those with high-speed Internet.
The new Web site and live video stream, found at www.uvawise.edu/newmedia, offers information on the UVa-Wise NewMedia initiative as well as video archives of features aired by CAV-TV, the student-produced campus news and features program.
“We believe this new Webcast is a great new way to reach out to our region with campus events and information,” said J. Keith Fowlkes, vice chancellor for information technology. “The educational programming, campus coverage and student productions are high-quality and reflect the good work being done on campus.”
Prior to the live Web streaming, CAV-TV was only available on channel 55 for local Comcast cable subscribers.
UVa-Wise NewMedia focuses on producing video content to promote UVa-Wise, provide access to academic and athletic events and special interest discussions, to promote event schedules and to broadcast educational television programming throughout the region.
Fowlkes said UVa-Wise NewMedia and CAV-TV would work next year to air more events, speakers and athletics on Comcast Channel 55 and through streamed Webcasts.
