Learn to manage multiple generations in the workplace at SVTDC Nov. 10
The University of Virginia’s College at Wise is partnering with the Virginia Department of Business Assistance and the Southwest Virginia Workforce Investment Board to offer a working lunch on “Understanding a Multi-Generational Workforce” on Tuesday, Nov. 10.
For the first time in history, there are four generations in America’s workforce. Companies can’t afford to ignore any generation because the challenges created keep teams from performing at optimal levels.
This half-day training luncheon will provide employers with techniques to bridge the generational gap within their companies. Having multiple generations in the workplace can lead to problems such as high attrition, low morale, team relationship issues and lower productivity.
The half-day program will focus on:
• the different sets of expectations for each generation.
• identifying the four different generation groups and describe the personality traits of each group.
• describing and exploring the recruitment, training, management, retention and communication issues among the generations.
The working lunch is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Southwest Virginia Technology Development Center, located at 141 Highland Drive in Lebanon. The training is an employer marketing service provided by the Southwest Virginia Workforce Investment Board and is funded by the Workforce Investment Act.
Stephanie Surrett and Lea Lofty, both with the Virginia Department of Business Assistance, will lead the seminar.
The cost of the lunch and instruction is $10.
