Charlie, Dora, Cinderella coming to UVa-Wise
for “Funtasia” Sept. 30
The University of Virginia’s College at Wise has your golden ticket for fun on Sept. 30 with a host of cartoon characters and games. “Funtasia,” sponsored by the Student Virginia Education Association, will begin at noon in the Gilliam Sculpture Garden with games lasting until 4 p.m.
Characters making special appearances include Dora the Explorer and Diego, JoJo, Peter Pan and Tinkerbell, Superman and Batman, the Disney Princesses, as well as characters from “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” and “The Chronicles of Narnia.”
There will be a character parade at 12:30 p.m. Dora will have her hot air baloon and JoJo will have a ferris wheel. Characters from The Chronicles of Narnia will be accompanied by real snow!
Children will be able to make their own kryptonite and play Crocodile Putt Putt. There will also be a maze with a chocolate fountain at the end. Be on the lookout for Umpa Lumpas from “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” and Aslan the Lion from “The Chronicles of Narnia.”
Children are encouraged to dress up as any character they choose.
Tickets are 25 cents each game and most games require two tickets each. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
“Funtasia” is presented by the Student Virginia Education Association (SVEA) at UVa-Wise. Money collected during “Funtasia” will be used to buy coats, clothes and toys for SVEA’s annual Christmas drive for needy children.
