UVa-Wise to Host Seventh-Annual Holiday Festival with the Arts
November 28, 2000

The public is invited to celebrate the holiday season along with The University of Virginia's College at Wise during the seventh-annual Holiday Festival with the Arts Dec. 3-10.

Sponsored by the Department of Visual and Performing Arts, the Holiday Festival with the Arts began as a way to showcase the talents of UVa-Wise faculty, staff and students and has proven so successful new events have been added each year. All events are free and open to the public.

This year's festival features several musical performances, including the colorful pageantry and lively music of the Wise Renaissance Revellers. All members of the group are dressed in custom-designed replicas of garments worn by nobility and royalty dating from the late 15th century to the reign of Queen Elizabeth I. The College's Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble and Concert Choir also will be featured performers throughout the weeklong event.

A student art exhibit will be presented Dec. 6-Dec. 15 in the studios located in the lower level of Commonwealth Hall. An artist reception featuring senior art major Misty Banks and alumni artist Eric Thomas is planned for 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 7 in Commonwealth Hall. The public is invited to attend.
