Marching Highland Cavaliers band camp set for Aug. 12-16
The Marching Highland Cavaliers will hold its annual band camp Aug. 12-16 on the campus of The University of Virginia’s College at Wise. New and returning band members should report to Music Center II at 1 p.m. on Aug. 12.
The band’s repertoire this year will feature music from the Broadway musicals “Tommy,” “Rent” and “Grease.” The band also plans to perform a show built around the music of “Blood Sweat and Tears,” including the songs “You've Made Me So Very Happy,” “And When I Die” and “Spinning Wheel.”
Drum majors for the 2007-2008 year are Amanda Watson, a junior music major from Virginia Beach, and Reagan Cecil, a senior music major from Grundy.
The Marching Highland Cavaliers played their inaugural season in the fall of 2006. The band performs during all home football games and for the Lonesome Pine Band Festival at J.J. Kelly High School.
Any UVa-Wise student with band experience and an interest in the marching band is encouraged to contact Director of Bands Richard Galyean at rdg3y@uvawise.edu or (276) 328-0235.
