Ramseyer named president of football coaches wives association
Mary Ramseyer – wife of Bill Ramseyer, the former head football coach of both The University of Virginia’s College at Wise and Wilmington College – was recently named the 2007 president of the American Football Coaches Wives Association (AFCWA). She was installed to her office at the annual meeting of the AFCWA in San Antonio.
Ramseyer, the retired director of the UVa-Wise Teacher Education Program, has served several years on the association’s board. She previously held the offices of vice president and treasurer.
Formed in 1989 to work in conjunction with the American Football Coaches Association, the AFCWA promotes camaraderie among its members and support for their communities. During each annual convention, one member receives a scholarship to continue her education, and all members visit a local children’s hospital to donate a monetary gift and memorabilia from each member’s home school and football team.
