Science Building

Launched:

January 2008

Anticipated completion:

December 2009

Architect:

VMDO

Contractor:

Quesenberry's Inc.

Project cost:

$13.435 million, state general funds

Originally constructed in 1965, the Science Building recently received an additional wing. The pre-existing part of the facility will now receive a renovation to bring the entire building up to date.

This project will provide laboratory spaces for courses in geology, software engineering and physics. The vivarium — which allows College students and faculty to raise animals in a setting that simulates their natural environment — will be completed, and the observation dome will be relocated. The internal infrastructure of the building will be updated, the HVAC systems will be upgraded and fire suppression will be added.
