TEACHER EDUCATION PROGRAM
The Teacher Education Program (TEP) at UVa-Wise is fully accredited by the Virginia Department of Education and the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation or CAEP (former Teacher Education Accreditation Council TEAC). All students pursuing a teaching license must be admitted to the TEP.
Undergraduate Students (Students who do not have a Bachelor's Degree)
Undergraduate studentsseeking an initial teacher license at the secondary level must complete the appropriate curriculum for teacher education, including the general education requirements, requirements for one of the majors offered by the College, specific teaching endorsement requirements, professional studies requirements, required assessments, and the teaching internship.
Undergraduate students seeking an initial teacher license in the PK-6 or Special Education track must complete a major in Liberal Arts and Sciences. Students must complete the appropriate curriculum for teacher education, including the general education requirements, specific teaching endorsement requirements, concentration requirements, required assessments, and the teaching internship.
Non Degree Students (Students who already have a Bachelor's Degree)
Students who possess a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and wish to become eligible for an initial teacher license must complete all requirements for admission to the Teacher Education Program.
