Activities:
Keynote Speaker at a Global Conference on Women's rights in Istanbul, Turkey. Speaker on Women's rights and the extent to which they are used in higher education at Oxford University. Harrison Award for Outstanding teacher. UVAWise award for Outstanding Contribution to the Academic Program. Annual presenter at the American Psychological Association Division on Women. Advisor to the Undergraduate Research Association. Secured research grants from the Eastman Foundation, the Early Harvarst Foundation, the Eastern Kentucy Foundation for Women, The Virginia Fkoundation for the Humanities, and private donors.
   
Research
Interests:
Dr. Darcy has published in the area of abused women. She is currently writing about the Black women in the coal fields of Appalachia and how economic, political, racial, and gender opppression affected their lives. She is also writing, for Greenwood Press, about abolitionist women and their contribution to feminisim. Dr. Darcy is working with Dr. Puiu Vasilescu on a book that looks at how women self silence across cultures, edited by Dana Jack. Lastly, Dr. Darcy is writing about the race riots in Tulsa, Oklahoma for Greenwood Press.
