The dream that a few farsighted citizens had in the early 1950s for higher education in far southwestern Virginia is alive today at The University of Virginia's College at Wise.  Founded as Clinch Valley College, it has educated civic -minded citizens and leaders who have served their communities in extraordinary ways.

Private  support has enriched the college experience for generations of students and today provides extensive scholarship support, new facilities, athletic programs, and curricular enhancements such as undergraduate research and foreign study.  Thanks to many scholarships and generous financial aid, our students boast one of the lowest debt loads among graduates of liberal arts colleges in the nation.
