Instructor in Chemistry

The University of Virginia's College at Wise, a nationally ranked four year public liberal arts college located in the mountains of southwestern Virginia, invites applications for a non-tenure track Instructor in chemistry. The successful candidate will be expected to teach introductory chemistry laboratories for science majors, chemistry for nursing majors, and organic chemistry labs. Assistant/Associate Professor in Music

The University of Virginia's College at Wise is seeking applications for a tenure-track position in Music starting with the Fall 2014 semester. Candidates with training in music theory and piano performance are preferred. Other specialties in music will be considered.

The College is a public four-year liberal arts institution located in the mountains of southwestern Virginia.

Candidates must have a completed Ph.D. or D.M.A. in Music by August 2014. Candidates should be committed to teaching in an undergraduate music major program based in the liberal arts.

The successful candidate's responsibilities will include teaching undergraduate courses in music theory, aural skills, applied piano, and additional courses based on the candidate's strengths; full participation in department meetings; and administration of the music theory/aural skills placement examination. Assistant Professor, Strategic Communications 

The Department of Communication Studies at the University of Virginia's College at Wise seeks applicants for a tenure-track position in strategic communications beginning in August 2014. Teaching responsibilities include a basic course in business communication and/or a basic course in media studies along with developing and teaching courses in public relations and advertising. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in communication, or a related field (with at least 18 graduate hours in communication) or Master's degree in communication with substantial experience in advertising, marketing, or public relations. Tenure-track rank will depend upon academic credentials and experience. Philosophy

The University of Virginia's College at Wise seeks applications for a full-time tenure track position in Philosophy to teach in the college's Department of History and Philosophy. The successful candidate should be prepared to teach Introduction to Logic and a two-semester sequence in the History of Philosophy. Additional specialties open, but Environmental Ethics strongly preferred. The successful applicant will oversee a Minor program in Philosophy and offer courses in a department that includes faculty in History and Religious Studies.
