Assistant Director of Annual Giving 

The University of Virginia's College at Wise invites applications for an Assistant Director of Annual Giving. This position will be responsible for building a pipeline of annual gifts in support of the College's general operating needs and special projects; developing an annual fund campaign; further developing class giving campaigns and instilling a culture of giving among the student body; and working in collaboration with the director of development and other development colleagues on various fundraising projects and development related activities.

A Bachelor's degree is required, with a Master's degree in a relevant field preferred, as well as at least four years fundraising experience, preferably in a college or university setting. Candidates must possess a high degree of initiative, integrity, and excellent communication skills. The ability to work well under pressure in a fast paced environment, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously are essential. Evening and weekend work, as well as occasional overnight travel, are required.

Director of Assessment & Evaluation

The University of Virginia's College at Wise invites applications for a Director of Assessment and Evaluation. This position will report directly to the Associate Vice Chancellor of Information Services and will be responsible for coordinating all college assessments; developing, administering, and analyzing surveys, and reporting on the data internally and externally; assisting in academic program reviews; conducting WEAVE training and assisting with annual WEAVE assessments; and assisting the SACS liaison/Academic Dean in the accreditation processes. Additionally, the successful candidate will organize, implement and oversee the administration of the course evaluation process and assist in the evaluation of administrative units.

A master's degree in higher education or a related field is required, with at least three years of experience in postsecondary assessment. Additional requirements include a familiarity with regional accreditation, previous experience with student outcomes assessment, and previous experience with WEAVE or other online assessment management systems. Previous experience with regional accreditation, SACS (Southern Association of Colleges and Schools) is preferred.

Vice Chancellor for Development & College Relations

The University of Virginia's College at Wise is a public, liberal arts college and the only branch of the University of Virginia. The College currently enrolls 2000 undergraduate students and is located in the beautiful Appalachian Mountains of Southwest Virginia. The Vice Chancellor for Development and College Relations reports directly to the Chancellor. The College has maintained an average annual giving level of over four million dollars over the past five years. The Vice Chancellor will oversee all external relations at the College, including fund raising (annual gifts, planned gifts, corporate and foundation gifts), alumni relations, public relations, and all campaign and development activities.

Master's degree required; however, a Bachelor's degree and significant relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a Master's degree.

A distinguished record of accomplishment in fundraising and institutional development, including experience with a capital campaign preferred; a commitment to the mission of a liberal arts college and the ability to work with a variety of internal and external constituencies desired; experience in effectively recruiting and motivating volunteers preferred; strong managerial, interpersonal and communication skills and a commitment to maintaining a record of progressive leadership and achievement in fund raising commensurate with appointment as Vice Chancellor desired; ability to work in a small town in a rural environment preferred; a strong commitment to diverfsity and student success required; a high level of personal integrity and a good sense of humor are necessary.
