Academic Affairs Assistant
The University of Virginia’s College at Wise seeks a part-time employee to assist the Office of Academic Affairs prepare for institutional accreditation. Duties will involve gathering, organizing, and compiling documentation of institutional activities that will be used in the accreditation process. The successful candidate must have strong analytical and organizational skills; be a capable and articulate writer; be able to work effectively with others; and be adaptable enough to learn new skills. A bachelor’s degree is required; a master’s preferred. An ideal candidate would have experience with accreditation processes or higher education. Administrative Assistant, Office of Advising and Retention
The University of Virginia's College at Wise invites applications for an Administrative Assistant in the Office of Advising and Retention. This position is responsible for managing office accounts and budgets, purchasing, and providing assistance to students and their parents/families, as well as assisting with surveys and survey administration and arranging and scheduling meetings for office staff.
The successful candidate must possess excellent oral and written communication skills, and excellent organizational skills. Additionally, great customer services skills and the ability to effectively interact with internal and external customers is a must. Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite is required for managing the various programs required in the position. Occasional weekend/evening work is expected. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, with experience in higher education preferred. Familiarity with student information systems is a plus.

Media Services Coordinator
The University of Virginia's College at Wise invites applications for a Media Services Coordinator. This position will perform media services setups; provide technical operations; manage student workers; troubleshoot problems with faculty classroom presentation resources (projection/media, computing systems); and provide training on the use of audio-visual equipment. The management and scheduling of student workers is necessary, as well as filming of some events on weekends and/or weeknights.
An Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree in Visual & Performing Arts or related field strongly preferred; as well as experience with video equipment/software; production television equipment; and projection and multimedia equipment configuration and setup. Experience with Windows and Macintosh-based systems is required; experience with FinalCut software, Leightronix video server and/or NewTek Tricaster video systems preferred.

Program Manager, Healthy Appalachia Institute
The University of Virginia's College at Wise invites applications for a Program Manager for the Healthy Appalachia Institute. The HAI was founded as a collaborative effort with the mission of improving the health, education, environment and prosperity for residents of central Appalachia by engaging communities and organizations, generating and implementing new ideas, and addressing the social, economic and scientific issues that exist at the interface of health and Appalachian culture. This position will be responsible for developing, implementing, managing, evaluating, Improving and reporting on a diverse array of public health programs; supporting communications and marketing activities of the HAI; and coordinating workshops, events and trainings around public health topics. Additionally, this position may be required to teach introductory public health courses.
A Master's degree in Public Health (MPH) is required, as well as at least three years experience in a health-related setting. Candidates must have experience in developing, managing or coordinating public health or health-related programs, and experience working with diverse constituencies. Other required knowledge, skills and abilities include: knowledge of evidence-based best practices to improve public health; knowledge/understanding of social determinants of health and impact on health policy; understanding and empathy for the challenges faced by communities that lack capacity in assets, resources, etc. to improve health; the ability to analyze and use health data to develop programs; the ability to actively promote and sustain partner and citizen engagement the ability to network and collaborate with diverse regional and statewide stakeholders across sectors; the ability to implement and evaluate programs with an emphasis on measurable outcomes using data and best practices; the ability to facilitate meetings and planning efforts, and develop and make presentations/ the ability to develop resource proposals and identify potential financial partners; the ability to develop strong relationships within the health field; the ability to supervise full and part time staff; the ability to track and reconcile program budgets; outstanding analytical, interpersonal, organizational and writing skills; and the ability to teach introductory public health courses or facilitate training programs in public health. Additionally, candidates must be proficient with Microsoft Office and statistical packages and have the ability to use on-line health databases.
Salary will range between $40,000 and $45,000, with an excellent benefits package.
