Wireless Networking at UVA-Wise

The college provides wireless network service to selected areas of the campus to supplement high speed wired network connections.  Wired connections are provided to ensure high performance is available campus wide and wireless is accessible where mobility needs are more important than the speed of service.  All service is compatible with B/G standards.

Two wireless networks are available on campus

CavsNet provides members of the college community (with active email accounts) a more secure wireless service.  This network uses current security standards newer computers should recognize and support.

WiseWIFI  is an open, unsecured network provided at UVa-Wise through a partnership between the College and Wise County.  This network allows all visitors and members of the college community access to a wireless network service without special setup and access requirements.  Users are simply asked to log in using their email address.
