UVa-Wise welcomes largest freshman class in its history
At 415 members strong, the Class of 2011 is the largest in the College’s history.
Hundreds of freshman moved into UVa-Wise residence halls on Friday. Returning students will move in on Sunday.
The 2007-08 academic year is the second in which freshman are required to live on campus. Exemptions exist for students who live within close proximity of UVa-Wise and for non-traditional students.
Over the next few days, freshman will take part in the second annual Expedition, which serves as an all-encompassing kick-off to the UVa-Wise experience.

The Aug. 21 Fall Convocation at The University of Virginia's College at Wise was part of a milestone day for students Tona Mullins and her daughter Deidra Mullins, both from Clintwood. Tona, a senior at the College, helped her daughter Deidra celebrate not only her first day as a UVa-Wise freshman, but also her eighteenth birthday.
