This award recognizes the outstanding accomplishments by one assistant men's coach in each region. Mr. Adams was named as one of eight award winners nationally in NCAA Division II. While the ITA award recognizes the recipient as having made significant contributions to the men's squad, Mr. Adams' contributions can be felt throughout the entire tennis program.
WISE - - Rising UVa-Wise sophomore Alexa Hernandez has been selected to try out for team Puerto Rico in the upcoming International Softball Federation World Championship. The Puerto Rican National Team will compete in Haarlem, Netherlands Aug. 14 to Aug. 25. The competition is held between athletes from around the globe, is held every two years and is the top event for softball worldwide.
WISE - - UVa-Wise announced the hiring of Bill Sergent as the new men's golf coach on Wednesday. The veteran coach has an accomplished background both as a player and as a coach at the collegiate level.

WISE - - The University of Virginia's College at Wise head women's lacrosse coach Meghan Dennehy today announced the addition of Jessie Aguglia to her coaching staff. Aguglia, who spent the previous season as the head varsity coach at Boiling Springs High School after completing four successful seasons as a midfielder at Limestone College (SC) will serve as the Cavaliers' assistant coach, with a specific focus on recruiting and defense while assisting in all areas of the game.

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - - The 2013-14 Virginia Sports Information Directors Academic All-State team contains 226 student-athletes from 38 colleges and universities across Virginia. To be eligible a student-athlete had to have at least a 3.25 GPA and be a sophomore or higher.VaSID is comprised of sports information or athletics communications professionals from intercollegiate institutions throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia. Membership is open to any individual affiliated with one of the state's institutions at the NCAA Division I, Division II, Division III, NAIA, community college and independent levels, provided that individual's area of responsibility lies within the realm of sports information.
WISE - - Officials at UVa-Wise announced the hiring of veteran coach Dino Kaklis to the position of defensive coordinator on Wednesday. A four-year letter winner at Purdue, Kaklis began his collegiate coaching career in 1999 at Maine Maritime Academy where he served as defensive coordinator.

Kunzman had a jug of ice cold water dumped over her head in her response to the challenge! She was challenged by Adelphi University Head women's basketball coach, Heather Jacobs.

WISE - - Coach Meghan Dennehy announced the first signing class in the history of the women's lacrosse program at UVa-Wise on Thursday. The first-year program which will begin play next spring has signed nine players from five states, including five from the state of Virginia.
