SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The UVa-Wise women's golf team traveled to Spartanburg, South Carolina to compete in the Converse Invitational this week. The Cavaliers finished fifth with an overall tournament score of 771. Freshman Katie Brownschildle led UVa-Wise with a 15th place finish with a two-day score of 182. Converse College took home the title with a team score of 638.
DANIELS, W.Va. – The UVa-Wise men's golf team traveled to Daniels, West Virginia to compete in the Glade Springs Intercollegiate Championship this week. The UVa Wise men's cross country team opened their season at Montreat College on Saturday. Conditions were challenging with heat, high humidity, and the course itself a quagmire of mud from recent heavy rains. As a result all individual times clocked very slow. The UVA Wise men finshed 5th of 8 teams, only 3 points behind 4th place Bob Jones. While Emmanuel College dominted the race for the second year in a row, leading all other schools with three top ten finishers.
WISE - - Playing back-to-back days did not seem to bother coach Danny Rowland's women's tennis team on Saturday as UVa-Wise cruised to a 9-0 non-conference win over Berea College. The Cavaliers did not lose a set in Saturday's match as Daria Tyschenko, Haley Thacker, and Marti Gay all claimed their first individual wins of the year.

WISE - - Mistakes proved costly on Saturday as UVa-Wise was shutout in the second half for a second consecutive week in a 23-7 loss to West Virginia Wesleyan at Carl Smith Stadium. The Cavaliers missed two field goals, had another field goal attempt botched on a poor snap-hold exchange, and dropped a pair of touchdowns in the home opener.
