Employee Guidelines

  • Attendance at all scheduled sessions is a responsibility of your employment. If you are unable to make a session, you must contact the Academic Coordinator in advance.

  • Excessive absences will affect your evaluation by staff and may warrant termination of employment. Habital lateness, improper conduct, and failure to comply with program regulations are also grounds for dismissal.

  • Attendance is mandatory at all training sessions and staff meetings.

  • Tutors are to report to the Academic Coordinator and inform him or her of any schedule changes, conflicts, change of address or phone number, etc.

  • Time sheets and worksheets must be legible, neat, thorough, and completed in a timely fashion. On the worksheets, include student's first and last name, course (e.g. Biol 101), your name, date, and time of session. Please round off to the nearest quarter hour (e.g. 9:00-9:50 would be rounded off to 9:00-10:00).

  • If students do not show up for sessions, please wait 15 minutes prior to leaving. Record this time on your timesheets. Tutors must inform the Academic Coordinator of missed sessions and after three missed sessions with no cancellation, the tutor can terminate the session.

  • All tutoring occurs in the Tutor Connection or Zehmer Lounge unless permission to tutor elsewhere is given by the Academic Coordinator. Tutors are not required to assist students outside of scheduled sessions and should report any meetings to the Academic Coordinator.

  • Tutors are to maintain confidentiality.

  • See the Academic Coordinator about use of textbooks and other resources available for tutoring.

  • Tutors may work no more than 20 hours a week.

  • Evaulations of tutors and the program must be completed.

  • Tutors are expected to work with all persons without bias or prejudice. Only in extreme cases of conflit will referral be made.
