F.A.Q.

I do not attend a United Methodist Church.  Can I still participate in the activities and ministries of the Wesley Foundation?

YES!  YES!  YES!  The Wesley Foundation is here for all students regardless of church affiliation.

I do not a attend any church.  Can I still participate in the activities and ministries of the Wesley Foundation?

Again, the answer is YES!  YES!  YES!  We know that there are many young people today who have either dropped out of church or have never attended church for various reasons.  You will not be made to feel any less a part of what we do or any less able to contribute to what we do if that is your situation.  We will just rejoice to have you with us and pray that what you find at Wesley will nourish your soul and help you to strengthen or, in some cases, even begin a life-long relationship with God through Jesus Christ.

What if I am of a different ethnic and/or religious background than most of the other students on campus?  Will I be welcomed and accepted at the Wesley Foundation?

YES, YOU WILL!.  Even though UVA-Wise is a small college and is not as diverse as many other colleges, the Wesley Foundation has been a place where persons of other ethnic groups and religious faiths have felt welcomed and accepted.  On most nights, several ethnic groups are represented at the table.  Some students who come to Wesley are also of other faith backgrounds, such as Muslim or Hindu.  While we are a Christian organization and our activities do reflect that, we believe that one of the most faithful witnesses we can make is to extend Christ's love to all people and to see each person as a loved child of God.
